Sharjah24: Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, which is affiliated with the Emirates Health Services, announced that it has made significant strides in treating complex cases related to the digestive system and bronchial tubes. The hospital has successfully utilized advanced endoscopic surgery techniques and introduced the cutting-edge "Spyglass" technology for the first time in the Corporation’s facilities. These efforts are aimed at enhancing the standard of healthcare services at the hospital to align with the highest international benchmarks.
Dr. Afraa Salem, Director of Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, emphasized the hospital's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance the quality of healthcare services. She highlighted the continuous support from the EHS in keeping abreast of the latest advancements in health services and ensuring ongoing training for medical and technical staff. Dr. Afraa emphasized that these efforts are pivotal in driving the development and leadership of the corporation's services across its facilities, aligning with the government's vision for 2031 and its centennial 2071 goals.

Dr. Thomas Cherukara, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Head of the Endoscopy Unit at Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, emphasized the hospital's alignment with the vision and objectives of the EHS. He highlighted the ongoing upgrade of the Endoscopy Unit as a practical embodiment of this vision, emphasizing the importance of leveraging cutting-edge technologies and the expertise of the medical team to deliver high-quality and effective healthcare services.

The hospital's medical team conducted a successful gastrointestinal endoscopy procedure on a 70-year-old patient with a sizable gallstone in the bile ducts. This innovative approach minimizes the need for traditional surgical interventions and reduces associated risks and complications. The use of endoscopic techniques provides effective treatment for conditions that typically require surgery, contributing to quicker recovery and improved patient outcomes.

During the first half of the year, Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah conducted a total of 782 endoscopic surgeries. Out of these, 392 surgeries were performed on patients visiting the endoscopy unit, while the remaining cases were transferred from other health facilities specifically to undergo these surgeries at the hospital. Notably, the hospital successfully used endoscopic echo to stop recurrent bleeding caused by gastric varices in a female patient in her sixties who presented at the emergency department. This demonstrates the hospital's expertise and leading position in the field of endoscopy.

The EHS has provided the Endoscopy Unit at Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah with advanced technologies and equipment to treat diseases of the digestive system and bronchial tubes, including the first and unique tumor removal technology in the EHS’s health facilities, which includes tumor removal operations using a colonoscope and a gastroscope, confirming its firm commitment to providing its health facilities with the latest technological innovations, in line with its strategy aimed at enhancing quality and safety systems in line with the highest international standards.
