Sharjah 24: Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) organised a blood donation campaign, at the Authority’s main building, in cooperation with the Emirates Health Services (EHS).
The campaign received a great response from different departments in the Authority and saw a turnout and interaction from the Authority’s employees, who expressed a desire to donate blood, based on their belief in the importance of this humanitarian step and its great role in saving lives.
Rashid Al Marzouqi, Director of Corporate Communications at SEWA, explained that organising the blood donation campaign came in line with the Authority's strategy, which is keen on community service, and supporting the community by launching distinguished initiatives. Al Marzouqi added that SEWA continuously cooperate to provide contributions aimed at supporting the blood stock in hospitals to meet the needs of patients, save their lives, raise awareness of the importance of blood donation and its many health benefits. He stated that the Authority works to promote the culture of giving back to society and involving employees in many community initiatives, as blood donation is a noble humanitarian act that contributes to saving the lives of thousands of patients who need blood transfusions, as well as people who are exposed to serious accidents that cause them to lose a large amount of their blood.
Al Marzouqi concluded that the Authority, in its keenness to encourage employees to participate in the blood donation campaign, has coordinated with the Ministry of Health to conduct free medical examinations for participants in the blood donation campaign.
