Sharjah24: Under the theme "I Am a Volunteer," the fifth week of the summer activities programme "Our Holiday is Extraordinary" commenced at Dibba Al Hisn Sports Club, with support from the Sharjah Sports Council. Yesterday evening marked the start of a series of events designed to promote volunteerism among children and participants, including interactive workshops and lectures to develop personal skills and serious awareness.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Naqbi, Head of the Events Committee at Dibba Al Hisn Club, introduced the initiatives alongside Mohammed Ali Mohammed Al Dhuhouri, Head of the Cultural and Community Activities Committee. The programme featured two main volunteer initiatives. The first, "Pedestrian Safety," took place on Corniche Street in Dibba Al Hisn, aiming to educate the public on the importance of following pedestrian safety rules and providing tips and guidelines on personal safety while walking on roads.
The second initiative, "Water Provision," was conducted on the Dibba Al Hisn Canal to foster a spirit of cooperation and emphasise the importance of providing cold water to athletes during hot weather.
In collaboration with the Sharjah Old Cars Club, a glass carving workshop was organised to boost artistic creativity and skills among participants. Another workshop focused on assembling wooden car parts, blending technology with learning to enhance manual skills. A design and printing workshop was also offered, providing educational benefits, enhancing skills, and opening new avenues in creative art.
Additionally, indoor sports and artistic activities were held to raise awareness and develop participants' thinking skills, featuring football, swimming, and water polo.
