Sharjah 24: Al Suyoh Council, affiliated with Sharjah Department of Suburbs Affairs (SDSA),, organised an awareness lecture entitled “Be my friend and do not bully”, in cooperation with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Sharjah Police General Command (SPGC).
The lecture was held, on Tuesday, at the Council’s headquarters in Sharjah, and saw a large attendance of participants and those affiliated with the Council’s summer activity.

The lecture was presented by First Lieutenant Dr. Oshba Hamad Al Ketbi, who presented a set of valuable topics related to the importance of behaving friendly and well with individuals in society. Participants interacted effectively with the lecture, benefiting from advice and guidance on how to avoid negative behaviours such as bullying and verbal and physical violence.

The lecture touched on bullying awareness, which represents an essential part of the efforts aimed at building a healthier and more interactive society, as bullying is considered a negative behavioural phenomenon that causes serious psychological and social effects on the affected individuals and society in general. It is not just physical mockery or bullying, but also includes verbal abuse, intentional neglect, and online threats.

Risks of bullying include devastating psychological effects such as low self-confidence, depression, anxiety, and social isolation. In addition, bullying can lead to problems in the academic and scholastic performance of children and young people, negatively affecting their academic achievement and professional future.

Al Ketbi pointed out the importance of early and continuous awareness of bullying, as it contributes to encouraging positive behaviours and contributing to creating safe and encouraging environments for everyone.

Successful awareness lectures and workshops are an opportunity to raise awareness and positive interaction between individuals, which contributes to reducing cases of bullying and building a society that is more understanding and respectful of others.

The lecture comes within the framework of the summer programme of Al Suyoh District Council, launched under the slogan “My Summer is Useful”, which aims to promote positive values and optimal behaviours among society, especially in the summer season, which sees an increase in recreational and interactive activities among youth and children.

Al Suyoh Council stressed the importance of such awareness-raising activities that contribute to building strong and responsible personalities in society, and enhancing the spirit of cooperation and belonging among members of the community, and pointed out the importance of the lecture and other summer activities held at the council’s headquarters to achieve public benefit and improve the quality of people’s lives during the holiday.
