Sharjah24 - WAM: Second-half goals from Christoph Baumgartner and Marko Arnautović silenced a huge Polish contingent in Berlin as Austria got off the mark in Group D after a deserved 3-1 win.
A Christoph Baumgartner strike and a Marko Arnautović penalty secured a first UEFA EURO 2024 Group D win for Austria, as the return of the talismanic Robert Lewandowski failed to bring Poland good fortune.
The result sees Austria move level on points with leaders France and Netherlands. Poland are rock bottom and will be unable to finish in the top two if the French avoid defeat against the Oranje.
Next up, Austria face Netherlands on Tuesday, while Poland meet France as Group D comes to a climax.
