During the field tour, the delegation learned about the various elements of the park, which includes different types of trees that provide nectar for bees and beeswax production, such as mangrove, sidr, and samr. The delegation also discovered beehives that contain cells, gaining insights into the nature and life of bees, as well as the practices beekeepers must adhere to in order to sustain honey production and protect biodiversity.
After the park tour, the delegation participated in a workshop where they tasted different types of honey to understand the differences in color, density, aroma, and taste. The workshop highlighted the value of local honey and its impact on enhancing food security in the UAE.
It is expected that honey production in the honey apiary project, will commence later this year. This food project aims to support and develop the honeybee breeding sector in Sharjah due to its environmental importance in the pollination process associated with plant and tree propagation, while also contributing to the preservation of biodiversity.
