Eastern Region Parents Council honours student Saif Hassan Karam

Sharjah 24: Eastern Region Parents Council, affiliated with Sharjah Department of Suburbs Affairs (SDSA), celebrated student Saif Hassan Ibrahim Karam, who made a distinguished achievement by winning third place globally in the chemistry competition held in Los Angeles, United States, within the activities of the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
The honouring ceremony, held at the headquarters of Al Dhaid Club, on Sunday, saw the presence of Rashid Al Muhyan, Chairman of the Parents Council, Mana Al Darmaki, Acting Director of the Department of Parents Councils in SDSA, Salem Mohammed bin Howaiden, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, Dr. Ali Al Tanaiji, Secretary of the Student Parents Council, in addition to members of the Council, the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Club, educators, and a large group of invitees and media professionals.

Rashid Al Muhyan presented the Council’s shield to the student Saif, along with a generous financial reward, in appreciation of his efforts and excellence. The honour also included the student’s family and his mother in appreciation of their efforts and role in supporting him.

In his statement during the ceremony, Rashid Al Muhyan emphasised the importance of this honour, saying that honouring Saif does not only represent recognition of his distinguished personal achievement and scientific genius, but also aims to be a role model among his peers. He confirmed that this honour comes as support for the vision of the wise leadership in promoting scientific excellence and raising the UAE’s flag in international fora by its students, and ensuring that students in the front rows are outstanding, creative and distinguished among other countries and nations.

Al Muhyan pointed out the importance of the family in building and nurturing the student, saying that the role of the family is indispensable in the student’s educational journey. The continuous support and encouragement from the family and parents, especially the mother, is what makes students able to achieve academic excellence and brilliance in all fields and excellence in various fields.

Al Muhyan explained that Saif project focused on the problem of emissions and air pollution, as Saif succeeded in finding innovative solutions to confront carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Al Muhyan added that Saif conducted various experiments in the laboratories of the University of Sharjah and the American University of Sharjah, and was able to arrive at a new compound that absorbs carbon dioxide under any conditions and under any temperature and strong pressure, without the need for laboratories or complex tools.

Al Muhyan concluded by offering congratulations to the student Saif, his family, to the leadership and people of the UAE, wishing him further success and excellence in his academic career, and stressing that the Parents Council will continue to support every student who seeks to achieve excellence, creativity and success, thus continuing the approach of wise leadership in the United Arab Emirates.
