Sharjah 24: Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation organised training workshops entitled “Perfume making is science and art” presented, by chemist expert, Abdullah Hassan Sultan, over three days, with the aim of providing the trainees, mothers and girls, with the necessary skills for making perfumes that will support the development of their skills and motivates them to start their own projects.
The workshops concluded with a visit to a perfume factory to enhance the participants’ acquired information and expand their understanding by examining in detail the compositions of perfumes used, the method of mixing them, and testing the aromatic scents, until the final packaging in the product’s bottle.
The workshops were directed at the mothers of orphans, the foundation’s girls who own perfume projects or who are about to start their own projects, in order to improve their skills to achieve their professional empowerment.
Mr. Abdullah Hassan Sultan stated that through the workshop, Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation will be trained on the basics of perfume making, to start their own projects. The training was conducted to prepare, formulate and manufacture perfumes in a scientific and artistic way, and to study their effect on the body, the psyche and the environment, in order to produce a product that ultimately benefits them.
Mr. Abdullah Hassan Sultan added that the course included a scientific background on the basics and techniques of perfume making, concepts of perfumes and chemical structures, knowledge of perfume families and their characteristics, and practical training for the processes of making and creating unique and different perfume compositions using aromatic and chemical substances, mixing different scents to create a distinctive aromatic composition, and knowing the different concentrations of perfumes.
Yusra AlJunaibi, one of the participants in the workshops said that she has been making perfumes and incense for 11 years, and she has her own project (Raheeq Al Oud), and she holds a degree in perfume design. She joined the workshops to add to her knowledge and develop her skills and hobby, and she has benefited greatly from them.
Umm Abdullah noted that the workshops were wonderful and added new and useful information to her, and she advises all passionate women and business owners in this field to join such courses that the Foundation gratefully provides.
Umm Ahmed expressed her thanks to the Foundation for organising such workshops that contribute to developing and improving the skills of mothers in perfume making, and further enrich their experiences in this field.
She added that she has had this valuable opportunity to participate, which will benefit her in the future in starting her own project, which will support her livelihood and empower her economically. She concluded by saying that she also enjoyed a unique experience when they visited the perfume factory, where they learned how to make and compose perfumes using different types of aromatic scents.
The foundation’s members receive many supportive programmes in terms of empowerment and vocational rehabilitation that qualify them to achieve independence, self-reliance, and financial stability. Through these programmes, children and guardians are armed with the necessary skills to enter the labour market and develop and advance their practical and professional skills to enable them to develop their productivity and starting their own projects.
