During the visit, His Excellency Brigadier General Yousef Al Shamsi expressed his happiness at the safety of the two girls, emphasising that the field efforts of the Civil Defence teams and the awareness of individuals' social responsibility constitute an integrated system for protecting lives. He pointed out that the Authority appreciates humanitarian gestures that express the values of cooperation and courage, emphasising that saving lives is the highest form of national duty, and that such actions instil a culture of giving and shared responsibility in society.
His Excellency added that the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety procedures at marine and swimming locations, noting that awareness is the first line of defence against dangers. He emphasised that Sharjah Civil Defence Authority continues its efforts to spread a culture of prevention and intensify awareness programmes targeting families and children to ensure a safe and sustainable environment that aligns with the vision of the wise leadership to make human safety a national priority above all other considerations.
Following the visit, Their Excellencies honoured Qassim Mohammed Al Sayed Mahmoud, the young man who rescued the two girls, in appreciation of his courage and immediate response, which reflected the highest values of cooperation and a sense of responsibility. His Excellency Brigadier Saeed Obaid Rashid Al Suwaidi praised this heroic act, emphasising that it embodies the human awareness and social responsibility that the Authority seeks to instill among all members of society.
The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority called on all beach and pool users to adhere to safety guidelines, not to leave children unattended in or near the water, to ensure that rescue and first aid equipment are ready, and to monitor weather conditions and sea currents before swimming. Pointing out that protecting lives is a collective responsibility that begins with awareness and ends with safety, so that the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates remain a safe environment for all who live on or visit its land.
