The ceremony opened with the UAE's national anthem, followed by a recital of verses from the Holy Quran. Sultan Matar bin Dalmouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment, then gave a speech in which he expressed gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his generous support of the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment, which has provided AED 18 million to cover Quranic circles since last year.
He stated that His Highness devotes all material and value resources, as well as all means of knowledge and education, to educating a generation committed to its religion, upholding its morals, understanding the value of its time, and investing it wisely.
Everyone in the country is welcome to take part in this annual competition to improve their knowledge of the Quran and Hadith; the enormous number of participants and winners this year suggests that it is the greatest that the organisation has ever hosted. The competition and its associated activities have a total award fund of one million dirhams. A grand total of 2,289 individuals took part, with 1,917 focusing on the Quran and 372 on the Hadith.
185 people received recognition for their contributions as a result of fierce competition; 143 received honours in the Quran category and 42 in the Hadith category.
Afterwards, the audience was treated to a presentation that delved into the organisation's involvement in the Sharjah Award for the Quran and the Sunnah, its pioneering work in promoting Quran rote memorisation and education, and the evolution of the award's different categories and sections.
Following that, two contestants read verses from the Holy Quran to demonstrate the winners' recitation in this year's award.
Dr Abdullah Mansour, Chairman of the Quran Committee, then delivered a speech praising the award's success and its message, emphasising the importance of Quran and Hadith competitions in memorising the Quran and Prophetic traditions, as well as educating future generations about the valuable religious teachings.
He praised the winners and encouraged them to follow the Quran, study its teachings, embody its ideals, and act upon them. He also thanked everyone who helped organise the award.
After that, Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi recognised the winners of the twenty-sixth Sharjah Award for the Quran and Sunnah. He handed out certificates of gratitude to the winners in numerous categories, including:
Quran Competition: Complete Quran memorisation Category for Imams and memorisers, General Category for the entire Quran; Twenty Chapters; Ten Chapters for Citizens; Ten Chapters for Residents; Five Chapters for Citizens; Five Chapters for Residents; and a Senior Citizens Category.
Hadith Competition: Complete Book of Umdat Al-Ahkam (294 Hadiths), Umdat Al-Ahkam (165 Hadiths), Book of Al Adab Min Bulug Al-Maram (105 Hadiths), and Book of Tanbih Al Anam (Explaining Fifty Hadiths from the Foundations of Islam).
The ceremony recognised the best Quranic seminars and centres in the Emirate of Sharjah, as well as those in the Eastern and Central regions. Members of the judging committees for the Quran and Hadith contests were also acknowledged.
Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi concluded the occasion by presenting commemorative shields and awards to the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment's sponsors and supporters.
Furthermore, the Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office got a commemorative shield from the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment. as an expression of gratitude for his attendance at the event and for recognising the winners of this edition.
