Sharjah 24: Al Qasimi Hall at the Arabic Language Council in Mauritania recently hosted a scientific lecture entitled “The Feature of Verbal Harmony in the Construction of the Quranic Surah: An Authentic Pause”, delivered virtually by Dr. Muhammad Safi Al Mustaghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy (ALA) in Sharjah, in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdullah Al Washmi, President of the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language (KSGAAL), an elite group of scholars, researchers and linguists. The lecture was moderated by Dr. Al Bakai Abdel Malik, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Council in Mauritania.
Dr. Khalil Al Nahwi, President of the Arabic Language Council, welcomed the Secretary-General of ALA in Sharjah and the attendees, by saying that the Council recently launched the (Spectrum Talk) programme as part of its research and scientific initiatives, with the aim of hosting an elite group of scholars and researchers via audio-visual communication technology from different parts of the world.
Dr. Muhammad Safi Al Mustaghanemi was chosen to be the first guest to lecture in this pioneering scientific programme.
Dr. Muhammad Safi Al Mosteghanemi highlighted the unique characteristics that distinguish the surahs of the Holy Quran, pointing to the wonderful harmony and precise linguistic order that reflects unparalleled accuracy and miracle. He explained that each surah in the Holy Quran follows its own axis, while adopting thoughtful linguistic choices that are in harmony with this axis.
Al Mustaghanemi provided illustrative examples from the Holy Quran, such as Surah An-Naba’ and Surah Al-Nazi’at, to highlight these features. Al Mustaghanemi also noted that linguistic harmony is not limited to the vocabulary of each surah and its focus only, but extends to include the relationship between the conclusion of the surah and the opening of the following surah, which is what the scholars of interpretation have confirmed in their previous studies. In addition to linking different surahs that share similar vocabulary, structures, or stories.
At the conclusion of the lecture, questions from scientists and specialists were received, which enriched the discussion with their interventions and points of view. These interactions contributed to enhancing the benefits of the lecture with qualitative information, which demonstrated the prominent role of scientific dialogue in developing knowledge and exchanging experiences among researchers.
