Sharjah24: Sharjah's Arabic Language (ALA) emphasised at the inaugural joint international conference "Efficiency in Teaching Arabic Language," sponsored by "Arabic Language House" in Istanbul, Turkey, that the world's languages are in close competition today.
Those in charge of disseminating and teaching Arabic face significant challenges, such as this high level of competition, and must prioritise the improvement of Arabic curriculum, methodology, and the training of qualified educators who can instil a lifelong love of the language in their students.
Dr Mohamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy, presented a talk at the international conference, which was attended by over 40 academics, researchers, and representatives from Arabic and foreign academies and universities under the theme "Creating Linguistic Competence for Non-Arabic Speaking Students." He delivered a paper on the second day of the conference, titled "The Formation of Linguistic Wealth and the Creation of Linguistic Competence for Non-Arabic Speakers."
Dr Al Mosteghanemi emphasised that for Arabic language learners to fully benefit from their education, they must reside in a society that properly uses the language and immerse themselves in Arabic culture.
Memorising is essential for learning Arabic, and he emphasised the need for creative writing for young people. As a first step, students should memorise passages of the Quran and Hadith, being careful not to use words or phrases from other languages when speaking.
Arabic language learners require an appropriately trained educator, according to Al Mosteghanemi, because "for Arabic language learning to be fruitful, it is important to have a skilled teacher who loves the language, is familiar with its rules and aesthetics, and is capable of teaching it effectively."
The Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah conducted an evaluation of Arabic language teaching approaches.
