SFRA marks International Day of Tuna

Sharjah24: Sharjah Fish Resources Authority (SFRA) celebrated the International Day of Tuna with an event titled 'Tuna in the Ocean.' The event aimed to highlight the authority's commitment to preserving natural life, particularly the common and widely consumed marine fish species, tuna. It also served as an opportunity to educate school students about the benefits of tuna as a rich source of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and immune system strengthening properties.
Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazayen, the Chairman of Sharjah Fish Resources Authority  , emphasized that this event is part of a series of activities targeting school students, organized at the Maritime Museum located at the authority's headquarters. The museum is one of the prominent educational and informative facilities provided by the authority, reflecting its dedication to promoting environmental conservation through engaging and entertaining educational methods that nurture students' talents and abilities while introducing them to the fisheries sector, its significance, and how to sustain it.

The event featured a variety of purposeful and exceptional workshops, including handicrafts and painting workshops, as well as competitive contests among participants. These activities aimed to contribute to the conservation of the marine environment and emphasize the importance of tuna.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority  pointed out that the event brought joy to the participants, with happiness evident on their faces within a beautiful and enriching atmosphere of workshops, information, and competitions. It had a significant impact on strengthening the continuous collaboration with the Emirates Schools Establishment. He also commended the continuous efforts of educational institutions and their role in organizing student visits to the authority's headquarters, allowing them to benefit from its experiences, resources, and substantial support in honing students' skills, especially in the field of fisheries.
