Sharjah 24: The Al Kharous District Council, under the Districts Affairs Department in Sharjah, has launched a heartfelt initiative to distribute sweets to residents of the suburb, with vibrant community participation. The gesture forms part of the council’s wider community engagement efforts aimed at promoting unity and reinforcing social ties in celebration of Eid Al-Adha.

The initiative was carried out under the supervision of Jumaa Al Mughni, Chairman of the Al Kharous Suburb Council, and in the presence of Omar Al Awani, member of the Municipal Council of Al Dhaid City. Launched yesterday, the initiative continued over two days, reaching several key locations across the suburb, most notably Al Jood Mosque. It also extended to delivering sweets directly to the homes of senior citizens, in recognition of their esteemed status and to promote the values of kindness and respect.

Honouring the elderly and celebrating togetherness

Jumaa Al Mughni highlighted that the initiative aligns with the directives of the Districts Affairs Department, which seeks to activate the social role of the suburb councils and encourage their participation in events that nurture compassion and community cohesion. He emphasised that distributing sweets represents a simple yet meaningful expression of joy that is capable of bringing happiness and strengthening human connections.

Omar Al Awani commended the council’s efforts, noting that such initiatives showcase the suburb’s civilised and inclusive spirit. He underlined the importance of involving senior citizens in community programs, describing it as a noble act that reflects gratitude and loyalty towards a generation known for its generosity and contribution.
