Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, Executive Director of Sharjah Charity International (SCI), noted that the organisation has made tremendous progress in organising the help application procedure. Specialised teams now carefully process applications, managing large volumes of requests while reducing processing time. Embracing early adoption of computerised application procedures and offering follow-up services via a toll-free hotline, 80014, which is open 24/7 save on Fridays, has enabled beneficiaries to make requests from anywhere, avoiding the need to wait in huge lineups.
Since introducing a new strategic approach some years ago, SCI has become more adaptable in managing growing request volumes while protecting the privacy of applicants. Last year, SCI received 9978 aid petitions, granting 8036 (81%) and denying 1908.
Reasons for denial often include income sufficiency in relation to monthly costs, a lack of transparency about the applicants' living and financial position, the inability to satisfy needed requirements, and insufficient submission of relevant papers. Numerous steps automate the support request process to ensure a timely response and client satisfaction.
Khadem emphasised that these processes protect recipients' rights while also reflecting SCI's reliability and openness in managing donations and charity assets. He advised eligible individuals to file aid requests in order to obtain support that would help them stabilize their situations and meet their basic needs.
Furthermore, he urged social organisations and donors to notify SCI about families in need, allowing its personnel to analyse their conditions and offer necessary support. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to contributors for their support of SCI's projects and efforts, which demonstrate social unity across all segments of society.
