Sharjah24: Under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and the Ruler of Sharjah, the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah inaugurated the first phase of Mleiha Dairy Farm including 1,250 heads of cattle.
Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah, announced the launch of the first phase of Mleiha Dairy Farm, which is considered one of the advanced dairy farms in the region.
In exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24," His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al Tunaiji affirmed that the first phase of the farm witnessed the inauguration of one out of the planned five barns. This barn houses 1,250 heads of purebred "A2A2" cattle. This breed, known for its ancient non-genetically modified and non-hybridized genetic characteristics, is preferred for dairy production due to its health benefits.
Dr. Al Tunaiji explained that the cows are expected to give birth by the end of 2024, which will enhance productivity and support food security in the Emirate. Additionally, he announced plans to sign an agreement to import the second batch of cattle, aiming to expand the farm's production capacity.
Al Tunaiji affirmed that the modern techniques are being used to take care of cattle at Mleiha Farm, including advanced systems for nutrition, health, and welfare in order to ensure the highest quality standards for dairy production.
Furthermore, he stated that this project represents not only an important step towards enhancing self-sufficiency in dairy and its products in the Emirate but also reflects Sharjah's commitment to investing in modern technologies and preserving the rare genetic heritage of cattle. This benefits both the local economy and the environment.
