Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Agriculture and Livestock (SDAL) recently celebrated the UAE 52nd Union Day, amid an exceptional and distinct national atmosphere, vibrant with the spirit of belonging and love of the homeland.
The celebrations were attended Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, SDAL Chairman, Dr. Sulaiman bin Abdullah bin Sarhan Al Zaabi, Head of the Department of Municipalities Affairs in Sharjah, and a number of directors of departments, sections and employees.
The celebration of Union Day included a number of events that shed light on the history of the United Arab Emirates, and the cultural and heritage aspects that distinguish it, in addition to the journey of sustainability and the sustainable legacy of the country, which expressively embodied the national values and the authentic Emirati heritage.
Following the rendition of the UAE National Anthem, the attendees watched a documentary under the title “Our Agricultural Heritage,” which touched on the history of sustainability in agriculture, and the path of achievements led by the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in all fields, especially agricultural, to which he paid great attention, and the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in the field of enhancing sustainable food security in the emirate, which was evident in the wheat farm project in Mleiha, and the Sharjah pastures, in addition to the dairy farm project, and other projects that keep pace with the UAE’s trends in achieving food security and ensuring its sustainability.
The celebrations included a performance by the military musical band, workshops on handicrafts, and the popular and traditional cuisine of the Emirates.
