Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department (SIAD) opened “Maria Al Qiptiyya” Mosque in Al Madifi area in the city of Khorfakkan in the Eastern Region of the Emirate of Sharjah, which can accommodate 500 worshipers.
This comes as part of its Ramadan plan to provide an atmosphere of faith for the residents of the region and educate them by holding lessons and memorisation sessions of the Holy Quran.
The mosque was built on a total land area of 1,125 square metres. It includes the prayer hall and its service facilities, including ablutions, toilets, the imam residence, and other facilities that serve the worshipers and visitors of the area.
The prayer hall can accommodate 500 worshippers, including 40 for the women’s prayer hall. The mosque was built according to the Islamic architectural style mixed with the modern style, topped with a 21-metre-high minaret and a circular dome.
