Sharjah24: The General Directorate of Sharjah Police, through the Punitive and Correctional Institution (PCI), recently distributed Ramadan Meer to 100 needy families of inmates. This initiative was carried out in partnership with the Sharjah Charity International and Tarahum Charity Foundation. Additionally, (7) Islamic inmates embraced Islam on the first day of the holy month.
According to Colonel Mona Sorour Al Shuwaihi, Deputy Director of Punishment and Correctional Institution Department at Sharjah Police, the provision of Ramadan aid to the families of inmates reflects Sharjah Police's dedication to fostering a culture of support and inclusion for the families of inmates within society. This is achieved through the concerted efforts of various governmental and private institutions in the rehabilitation process, aiming to enhance the spirit of social solidarity and mutual support.

Al Shuwaihi emphasised the institution’s commitment to developing multiple programs and activities during the holy month, in collaboration with its strategic partners. She added that the programs include religious, cultural, sports, and recreational activities, as well as interactive workshops. Additionally, the programs enable inmates to maintain daily communication with their families through video calls, both domestically and internationally, aiming to bring joy and happiness to their hearts.

The Acting Director of the Punitive and Correctional Facilities mentioned that (7) inmates converted to Islam on the first day of Ramadan. They praised the Department of Islamic Affairs and charitable activities for their important work in organising religious programmes. She also commended charitable and voluntary institutions for their efforts in promoting religious inclusivity among their non-Muslim inmates.
