Al Zahid: 70 contestants in Dubai Int'l Holy Quran Award

Sharjah 24: Ahmed Al Zahid, Head of the Media Unit at the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, explained that the 27th edition began on Tuesday, and will continue until March 23, at the headquarters of the Cultural and Scientific Association in Dubai.
He announced that the award includes 70 contestants representing 70 countries, noting that the blessed month of Ramadan is a time for the meeting of memorisers of the Holy Quran from different countries and Islamic communities in the UAE.

He maintained, in statements to “Sharjah 24,” that the competition between the contestants will be daily until March 21, and the closing ceremony will be organised on March 23 to honour the winners of the first ten places.

On Tuesday, six contestants competed at the opening of the competition, before the jury of the international competition in memorising the narration of Hafs from Asim. 

They are: Al Amin Musa from Cameroon, Moaz bin Mohammed Waradi from Malaysia, Abdullah Jamal Al Birawi from Jordan, Ahmed Khubaib from Italy, and Mohammed Hassan Mali from Mauritius, and Mazhar Shuaib from the Philippines.
