Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) marks the International Women's Day (IWD), which is celebrated annually on March 8. This year’s of the event is marked under the theme "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.”
Celebrating the Day, Khawla Al Mujaini, Director of Events and Marketing at SBA, said, “All cultures recognise the necessity of investing in women as a cornerstone for progress, prosperity, and stability. In the Emirati Arab culture, women enjoy a revered status, deriving from a history filled with their significant achievements and contributions to the development of civilisations and their enrichment of culture and sciences through innovative ideas, discoveries, and inventions. Therefore, Women's Day in our culture is not just a celebration of their historical and present achievements but also a reaffirmation of their vital role in realising collective goals and reflecting the Emirati societal vision across all its demographics. This day specifically honours Emirati and Arab women, acknowledging their unique contributions.”

She added, “This year's International Women's Day theme, "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress," underscores the critical role women play not just in societal advancement but also in forging a culture of progress through their intellectual and cultural contributions. Women are instrumental in sharing and disseminating successful experiences across communities, which is essential to the cultural exchange among nations. Against this backdrop, the Sharjah Book Authority actively seeks to amplify women's roles in knowledge and creative industries, highlighting their indispensable contributions to these sectors.
