Sharjah 24: Mona Abdelkareem Al Yafei, Director of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), launched the "Adapted Physical Education” Conference (APE): The Theory and Practice" in the presence of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Sharjah's Deputy Ruler. The conference, organised in conjunction with California State University, Chico, and the Sharjah Education Academy, is the first of its type in the region.
In exclusive statements to Sharjah 24, Al Yafei said: "The conference includes the participation of 268 specialists in the field of special education, including athletes and sports clubs from within and outside the country, as well as more than 34 speakers and 18 workshops presented by experts in the field of adapted physical education from 9 countries worldwide."
The Director of SCHS emphasised the importance of special education in the field of adapted physical education, which plays a significant role in programmes and activities for people with disabilities, particularly those with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, severe disabilities, and multiple disabilities. She emphasised how this helps them build self-confidence and improves their physical and mental wellbeing.
She thanked all of the scientific partners, supporters, and attendees for making this important international conference a success.
