Sharjah24: The "Your Zakat for Our Education" campaign by the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) is more than just a charitable initiative. It's a compassionate journey rooted in the spirit of Ramadan. Guided by the local fatwa, the city opens its arms to collect and distribute zakat specifically for individuals with disabilities.
Mona Abdul Karim Al-Yafei, SCHS’s Director General, shared the city's annual commitment. A dedicated committee, comprised of seasoned experts within and beyond the city, meticulously studies the economic and social landscapes of families with disabled members. Their mission: to identify those considered "needy," facing challenges in earning a livelihood or meeting essential needs like education and medical care.

Al-Yafei expressed that a significant 80% of the city's disabled students find solace in being entirely or partially exempt from tuition fees, thanks to the city's unwavering dedication. This financial relief is made possible through the support of zakat funds, making education accessible for those who might otherwise struggle.

This year's goal is to provide AED 12,107,750 to cover tuition fees for 537 deserving disabled students. The funds, carefully managed according to Sharia guidelines, aim to ensure that no student is left behind due to financial constraints.

Since its inception in 1979, the city has embraced the cause of individuals with disabilities, weaving it into its mission, vision, and values. The city not only advocates for awareness but also calls on the community to contribute their zakat funds, ensuring a continuum of educational services aligned with the latest standards.

Al-Yafei extended heartfelt gratitude to the Sharjah government and the campaign's partners, sponsors, and supporters, recognising their invaluable role. Among these pillars are the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sharjah Islamic Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank, Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority, Investment Bank, Jibca Group, Nazo Building Materials Trading Company, and media sponsors such as Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, Site Global, and Rimal Advertising.

For those who wish to extend a helping hand, donations can be made through bank transfers to Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services accounts at Sharjah Islamic Bank (AE060410000011203320004), Dubai Islamic Bank (AE960240007580560448601), and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (AE290500000000010260597). Alternatively, individuals can reach out at 0562160222, where the city's representatives are eager to collect donations, spreading the spirit of giving during this blessed month.
