Paolo Verzone, a National Geographic Photographer, with close to thirty years of experience in photography, has devoted his professional life to capturing the true essence of the world around him.
Some of Verzone’s most notable works include "Seeuropeans" (1994-2002), a series that showcases Europeans enjoying the beach, and the "Moscow Project" (1991-2021), which is a three-decade-long study of the people of Moscow.
Verzone received World Press Photo awards in 2000, 2009, and 2015 and was also awarded Picture of The Year International in 2023. His works are notably featured in prestigious collections at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, and Istituto Nazionale della Grafica.
Verzone expressed his appreciation to Xposure for the invitation to immerse himself in the vast realm of art. He conducted a workshop titled "Mastering Light to Create a Visual Language" in collaboration with Rubén Salgado Escudero, with a focus on sharpening and comprehending the use of light in photography.
According to his statement to "Sharjah24", the workshop addressed the techniques for handling different types of lighting, including natural and strobe lights, as well as the methods for blending them effectively.
The Xposure exhibition is currently showcasing "Reimagining Dinosaurs" by Verzone. This project was created for National Geographic and aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the history of dinosaurs through the lens of modern scientific methodologies. The exhibition has been designed to articulate how scientific advancements have enabled greater clarity around the study of dinosaurs.
Driven by his love for art, Rubén Salgado Escudero’s photography rapidly gained worldwide acclaim. His pieces have been displayed in notable cities such as New York, London, and Tokyo, as well as at the distinguished Les Rencontres d’ Arles photo festival in France.
The Spainish photographer’s exceptional talent has earned him over twenty international awards, including the prestigious Sony World Photography Award for two consecutive years and the POY Latam (Picture of the Year) award, also twice. “Solar Portraits”, an impactful project, has made it to National Geographic's official travelling exhibitions catalogue, highlighting the photographer's talent in telling powerful stories through his captivating photographs.
Escudero was pleased to being present at the Xposure International Photography Festival that was held in Sharjah, where he is showcasing his exhibition titled "Solar Portraits" at the event.
The workshop "Mastering Light to Create a Visual Language," featuring National Geographic fellow photographer Paolo Verzone, was conducted by Escudero. The purpose of the workshop was to provide insights into the manipulation of lighting techniques in photography. The participants of the workshop were taken on an outdoor excursion to al Mimzar beach in Sharjah, where they were given the opportunity to experiment with various lighting techniques while capturing photographs. The workshop aimed to enhance participants' skills in utilizing lighting to create unique and compelling visual narratives in photography.
During his interview with "Sharjah 24", he stated that he and Verzone provided participants with tips and techniques utilized in their works for National Geographic. The tips given was intended to enhance the participants' skills and improve the quality of their work.
