Sharjah24: Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Vice President of the World Federation for the Disabled, bestowed recognition upon Sharjah's Al Hira Beach, accrediting it with the union's certification as a facility friendly to individuals with disabilities. The certification signifies adherence to the highest global environmental standards tailored for the disabled. Al Hira Beach is the third in Sharjah to achieve this certification, acknowledging the commendable efforts of Sharjah Municipality and Shurooq.
This acknowledgment reflects their successful fulfillment of all environmental criteria for individuals with disabilities, encompassing designated parking spaces, accessible bathrooms, and the provision of a sea-entry chair. Dr. Tariq bin Khadem personally presented the certification to Sharjah Municipality's Director of Customer Service, Khaled bin Falah Al Suwaidi, and Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). This ceremony took place in the presence of Dr. Sulaiman Abdallah Bin Sarhan Al Zaabi, the Chairman of Municipal Affairs Department in Sharjah.

Dr. Tareiq bin Khadem emphasised that the initiatives undertaken by the World Federation for the Disabled align with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. These directives prioritise the well-being of all segments of society, particularly those with disabilities and the elderly. This encouragement has spurred numerous institutions, both public and private, to actively pursue this certification for various facilities such as beaches, parks, mosques, schools, hospitals, and more. Dr. Tariq noted that the union's assessment committees operate nationally and internationally, evaluating a substantial number of locations to contribute to facilitating the lives of individuals with disabilities and the elderly.
