APC, Children’s Rights Committees hold their meetings

The meetings took place on February 22, 2024, in preparation for the third session, which will address the topic of artificial intelligence in the eyes of Arab children. These meetings serve as a vital way to achieve the goals of establishing and advancing services for Arab children. They provide a platform for dialogue and knowledge that contributes to building effective strategies to enhance children's rights, quality of life, and their development of capabilities and knowledge.

The three meetings discussed the Parliament's mechanisms of work for the upcoming period and its roles in serving Arab children. They addressed various issues related to children in all fields and reached opinions and action plans that contribute to improving the situation of children in the Arab world.

During these meetings, the importance of focusing on Arab childhood issues in all areas was emphasized, and opinions and action plans were developed to elevate the status of children in the Arab world. The Arab Parliament for Children, since its establishment in 2019, continues to build bridges of communication and cooperation among Arab countries to achieve a shared vision in promoting children's rights and enhancing their role and status in society.

The meetings were attended by His Excellency Ayman Othman Al-Barout, the Secretary-General of the Parliament, and relevant personnel from the Parliament, who affirmed that the Parliament is a quality platform under the Arab League that reflects the hopes and aspirations of Arab children in discussing their present and future aspirations. APC and the committees expressed their gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and the Ruler of Sharjah, for his generous support of the  Arab Parliament for the Child and its Arab role.

They also expressed gratitude to His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, for his continuous follow-up and sponsorship of the Parliament, enabling it to carry out its roles. The Parliament and the committees emphasized the importance of the session's topic, focusing on artificial intelligence, and highlighting its significance in the context of Arab childhood.

They emphasized the need to focus on artificial intelligence in parliamentary meetings and discussions due to its proactive and vital role in addressing future challenges and enhancing society's understanding of the concept of artificial intelligence and its impact on children. They highlighted the urgent need to understand the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on children's development and education, as well as the optimal utilization of these technologies to improve the quality of life and develop social and educational services for children in Arab communities.
