Sharjah 24: Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, delivered an insightful lecture on "Enhancing the Quality of Higher Education and Elevating Arab Journals for Global Recognition" at Al Qasimia University.
The distinguished audience included His Eccellency Jamal Al Tarifi, the President of Al Qasimia University, and His Excellency Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, the University Chancellor, alongside deans of faculties, the Director of the Continuing Education and Development Centre, and esteemed academic staff.
During his address, the Secretary-General underscored the Association's commitment to supporting Arab journals in meeting the criteria for international rankings, placing particular emphasis on the influential Scopus classification. He highlighted the forward-thinking strategy adopted by the Association for the 2020-2030 period, aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and the goals of international institutions dedicated to higher education.
Dr. Salama provided a succinct overview of the association’s pivotal projects and programmes, including the Arab University Classification Project, the Unified Framework for Arab Qualifications, Arab Impact Factors, the promotion of a quality-oriented culture in both traditional and distance education, the preparation of accredited evidence and references, among other initiatives.
He emphasised the association's dedication to steering research towards a knowledge society, harnessing the advancements of the fourth industrial revolution, and embracing artificial intelligence. The association strives to elevate the caliber of projects in the region, equip graduates for emerging global opportunities, establish a comprehensive and equitable education system, nurture academic leaders, foster local and international collaborations, and attain global benchmarks in higher education and its outcomes.
Concluding the lecture, Jamal Salem Al Tarifi presented Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama with the prestigious shield of Al Qasimia University, expressing gratitude for his outstanding scientific efforts and contributions to the field.
