Sharjah24: The quarter-final competitions in the ongoing 7th edition of the Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST 2024) on Friday at Khorfakkan Club have outlined the map for the semi-final round of the competition. Tomorrow's matches will kick off with the host team, Sharjah Women Sports (SWS), facing Egypt's Sporting, while Lebanon's Byblos will meet Kuwait's Salwa Alsabah.
The first quarter-final matches brought good news for the Egyptian team, securing an easy qualification to the semi-finals after securing an easy win in 58 minutes against Syria's Taldara SC, ending the game with three clean sets. The match concluded 25-9, 25-8, and 25-8, with a score at the final whistle 75-25.

In turn, the Sharjah team earned its ticket to the semi-finals after an exciting face-off against Iraq's Akkad Ankawa with a score of (3-1). Sharjah had to overcome a first-set loss of (21-25) to clinch the remaining sets with scores of (25-15, 25-16, and 25-19).

The Kuwaiti Salwa Alsabah grabbed the third qualification spot following a clean sweep win against UAE's Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy with scores of (25-12, 25-16, and 25-14), completing the semi-finals lineup with Lebanon's Byblos, which won against the Jordanian De La Salle team 3-0, with scores of (25-7, 25-17, and 25-10).

The four teams that lost in the quarter-finals will play tomorrow (Saturday) to determine the rankings from fifth to eighth place. The first match will kick off at 9 AM, with the Syrian team facing Iraq's Akkad Ankawa. It will be followed at 11 AM with a game between UAE's Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy and De La Salle from Jordan.
