Sharjah 24: Camel races resumed on Sunday, February 4th, at Al Dhaid Racecourse, under the patronage of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and in the presence of Matar Ali bin Howaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club.
Tribal camels, up to two years old, competed in fifteen rounds over a distance of one thousand five hundred metres.
According to Al Ketbi, the camel races held at Al Dhaid Racecourse, which are supported by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, have helped to increase tourism. Competitors come from all around the United Arab Emirates and the other countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council to take part in these races.
