This came during a field visit by Abdullah Al-Sabousi, the head of the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah, to several new mosques under construction in the emirate, with the aim of monitoring progress in their construction.
During his field visit, he met with consultants and contractors supervising the construction of the mosques and listened to a comprehensive explanation about the progress of the construction work, the stages of completion, and the expected dates for the delivery of these mosques.
Al Sabousi explained that the department has initiated all necessary procedures with the relevant authorities and departments in the emirate and instructed contractors and consultants to expedite the completion of the construction of 30 new mosques during the months of Rajab and Sha'ban, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan. He emphasized that the department takes into consideration various factors for the opening of the mosques before the beginning of the holy month, including population density and urban development in the area and the needs of its residents, in order to provide a spiritual atmosphere and all the comforts and tranquility for mosque-goers, especially during Ramadan.
Al-Sabousi pointed out that the new mosques are characterized by their diverse architectural designs and their inclusion of all necessary facilities that serve all segments of society, including the elderly and people with disabilities, such as special corridors and ramps for them, and accessible toilets. Moreover, they are built according to the best international standards in construction, water and energy conservation. Some of them are equipped with smart systems to control air conditioning, sound systems, and lighting, as part of the department's efforts to preserve environmental resources and in line with the wise leadership's aspirations for sustainability.
