Haitham Al Qasimi crowns winners of Sharjah Tour

Sharjah24: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the slogan "Sultan of Goodness - 52 Years of Giving and Achievements," Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler in the city of Kalba, crowned cyclist James Ewart as the champion of the first stage of the Sharjah International Tour, on Friday, January 26th, at Kalba Castle.
The participants competed in a distance of 134.46 kilometers starting from Sharjah Fort and ending at Kalba Castle, amidst great interaction from the audience at various locations where the cyclists passed.

The award ceremony was attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Humaid Al Qasimi, President of the Arab Cycling Union; Sheikh Saqr bin Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi; His Excellency Abdul Malik Jhani, Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Tour; His Excellency Adel Saleh Al Hamadi, Board Member; Dr. Yasser Omar Al Dukhi, Tour Director and Chairman of the Technical and Referees Committee, and several officials and representatives of sponsoring entities.

Results Details:
James Ewart from the Terngano team won first place and the gold medal. Anas Al Abidiah from the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club team came in second, and Eric Manizabayo from Rwanda came in third. As for the distinctive jerseys, James Ewart from Terngano team received the Yellow Jersey for the best time in completing the stage, sponsored by the Sharjah Police . James Ewart from Terngano team also received the Green Jersey for the first place in climbing the hills, sponsored by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. Anas Al Abidiah from Abu Dhabi Cycling Club received the Red Jersey for the best average speed, sponsored by Sharjah Municipality. The White Jersey, sponsored by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, for the first place in the Under-23 category was won by Mohammed Al Matiwi from the UAE national team. The UAE Flag Jersey, sponsored by the Sharjah Sports Council, for the cyclist with the best time in completing the stage was won by Mohammed Al Matiwi from the UAE national team.

Details of the Second Stage "Sustainability":
The second stage, "Sustainability," will start on Saturday, January 27th, covering a distance of 137.66 kilometers. It will begin at 11:00 AM in front of the Environment Group and will end at a beautiful location in Al Hamriyah.
