The event is an initiative of the Municipal Council of the Mleiha Region, Mleiha Municipality, Mleiha Sports Club, BEEAH, Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), and Sharjah Police General Command (SPGC).
The opening was attended by His Excellency Sultan Ali Saif Khasouni Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of the Mleiha Region; Musabah Saif Awad Al Ketbi, Director of the Mleiha Municipality; Muhammad Sultan Al Khassouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Sports Club; in addition to representatives of the participating entities and a large number of visitors, families and media representatives.
The event was launched with sporting, cultural and artistic events, combining institutional partnership with entertainment, cultural and heritage programmes.
The event was organised, during the warm winter, which distinguishes Mleiha, and visitors enjoyed camping being an expression of a social, heritage, and tourist custom of staying on the “Arqoub”, which is sand dunes high above the ground.
“Barzat Arqoub Mleiha” constitutes a valuable addition to the tourism, social and sporting life in the region, and the convergence between generations and cultures in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The event is one of the pioneering programmes that comes within the framework of community partnership, and it included many sports and cultural competitions, in addition to popular sports and heritage competitions that saw active families, visitors and tourists’ participation.
Barzat Arqoub Mleiha” embodies the desire to enhance communication and interaction between individuals and local entities, contributing to strengthening social relations and consolidating the community spirit and the values of interdependence and cooperation.
Sultan Ali Saif Khasouni Al Ketbi confirmed that he is proud to organise such unique event that embodies the convergence of heritage, sports and entertainment, which turns Mleiha region into a centre for tourism, sports, entertainment, cultural and social activities.
Musabih Saif Awad Al Ketbi, said that the event reflects the cooperative spirit among the local authorities in Mleiha and enhances opportunities for visitors to enjoy a unique experience in the Mleiha region, with its pure atmosphere and picturesque natural tourist sites, in addition to the diversity of activities.
For his part, Mohammed Sultan Al Khasouni, confirmed that the event aims to raise awareness about heritage and encourage family participation in sports and cultural activities, which revives communication over traditional customs.
