Sharjah24: The "Alef International Chess Olympiad" came to a close on Monday, amidst an atmosphere filled with excitement, high competitiveness, and great public engagement.

The event is widely recognised as the biggest chess gathering in the Arab world and the Middle East. It was successfully organised by Alef Group, a prominent company specialising in real estate development and retail in Al Mamsha area in Sharjah, in collaboration with the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club. Over 1,000 players from 25 countries took part in the event, which ran from November 27th to December 18th of this year.

The event was attended by Mr. Issa Ataya, the CEO of Alef Group, several representatives from Alef Group, along with a large gathering of participants, spectators, and visitors.

During the event, the winners of various competitions within the Olympiad were honoured. The Olympiad included diverse chess tournaments held over 22 days, with the participation of a large group of renowned international masters, promising players, amateurs, school and university students, emerging club players, and chess enthusiasts.
