Sharjah24: Sharjah Charity International's 'Small Hearts' campaign has concluded its humanitarian activities in Kenya after performing over 44 surgical surgeries on children with severe and serious heart diseases and examining over 500 others.
The medical team was led by Dr Ahmed Al Kamali, a paediatric cardiac catheterization consultant at Al Qassimi Hospital for Women, Children, and Paediatrics in Sharjah, and was accompanied by an administrative delegation from the association led by Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, a member of the board of directors.
According to board member Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, the 'Small Hearts' campaign is one of the greatest programmes in offering medical support to children born with critical heart issues. The first of these programmes was started in 2009, and the association has since carried out over 43 'Small Hearts' campaigns in various nations around the world. The medical staff has treated more than 1400 children.
Dr Ahmed Al Kamali, a paediatric cardiac expert and the head of the medical team for the 'Small Hearts' campaigns, stated that the medical team got right to work as soon as they arrived in Kenya. In partnership with the local medical team in Kenya, initial assessments were performed on approximately 500 cases. The team then treated serious patients that required immediate surgical intervention."
