Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties (SCLD) concluded the activities of the national awareness campaign on learning difficulties, which it launched from October 1 to November 30 of this year.
The campaign achieved outstanding positive results by enhancing indicators of awareness and scientific knowledge among members of society about learning difficulties, while simulation laboratory for people with learning disabilities attracted more than 100 persons.
The campaign, which was launched in partnership with the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, the Sharjah Education Academy, the Sharjah Private Education Authority, the UAE University, and Zayed University, and targeted a number of governmental and semi-governmental institutions across the UAE, received wide participation from members of society.
The campaign recorded a remarkable public interaction with the awareness messages that were published on the SCLD’s social media sites, with the aim of developing community awareness in the field of learning difficulties. The campaign was followed by more than 467 new followers and recorded more than 13 thousand views of the awareness materials presented by the campaign over the course of two months through the media, videos, and awareness publications on social networking sites.
Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of SCLD expressed her happiness with the successes achieved by the campaign to emerge as one of the most important awareness campaigns at the UAE level aimed at providing a supportive community environment for people with learning difficulties, noting that these positive results came as a result of the quality and importance of the activities and initiatives included in the campaign, ntegration of efforts and constructive cooperation with the campaign’s strategic partners, which contributed to enabling the campaign to achieve its strategic goals of spreading awareness and scientific knowledge of learning difficulties, and highlighting the most important services provided by the centre, and its most prominent programmes and initiatives that aim to support people with learning difficulties and their families , and qualifying them to integrate into society.
Al Suwaidi indicated that the centre was keen during the campaign to employ a comprehensive set of innovative activities and events, awareness lectures and forums that contributed to spreading awareness and scientific knowledge of learning difficulties and had an important role in informing participants of the causes of learning difficulties, ways to prevent them and appropriate methods in dealing with people with learning difficulties, in addition to the advisory platform provided by the campaign enhance the ability to evaluate and diagnose the cases of people with learning difficulties in all aspects and provide them with appropriate educational, social and psychological training and consultations.
The campaign witnessed great cooperation from a number of government agencies and institutions, most notably the Emirates Schools Establishment, the Sharjah Museums Authority, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, Khorfakkan University, and the Sharjah Youth, UAE University.
