Department of Civil Aviation, SAA mark Commemoration Day

Sharjah24: The Department of Civil Aviation and Sharjah Airport Authority observed the Commemoration Day in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid Bin Issam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation, His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority and His Excellency Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority, along with the employees from both sides and representatives of government and private entities working at the airport. The events commenced by lowering the flag at half-mast in front of the airport administration building and observing a minute’s silence to honour the martyrs, followed by a flag-hoisting ceremony during which national anthem was played.
His Excellency Sheikh Khalid Bin Issam Al Qasimi, said: “Martyrs' Day marks the recognition of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives to defend the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates, ensuring that the people of this country may live in dignity, prosperity, and pride, and may its flag continue to fly high and proudly. The sacrifices of these men will forever be in the memory of future generations and their sacrifices will remain a part of our history”.
His Excellency added: “As we commemorate the great sacrifices of our martyrs, we affirm that the UAE will always remain strong and proud, striving with determination towards progress and leadership. The people rally around the leadership to reiterate their loyalty, vowing to continue the journey of righteousness and upholding the values of truth and justice and preserving the sovereignty. May Allah protect our leaders and our country, have mercy on our martyrs, and perpetuate peace, security, safety, and stability”.

For his part, His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, said: “Commemoration Day is a national occasion observed in honour and pride of the nation’s heroes for their patriotism and sacrifice. Being a nation united by reverence and gratitude to men who have entrusted their lives to God, we stand here today, along with the leadership and people, in honour and appreciation of their achievement and sacrifices. Furthermore, we honour their families and relatives and share their pride in their brave journey and sacrifices for the sake of protecting their homeland.”

Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, said: “On this day, we remember the sacrifices of our brave martyrs, who will live on with us and our future generations as a guiding light. Their sacrifices to protect their soil and people and to ensure that the UAE flag always flies high in humanitarian and national fields of loyalty and responsibility is the greatest testament of their heroism.” 

Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Thani, said: "Martyr's Day, which is held on November 30 of each year, honours the sacrifices made by the martyrs and demonstrates the pride of the UAE people and leadership, while emphasizing the values of loyalty, and sacrifice. Also, it commemorates those who sacrificed their lives while performing national duties inside and outside the country”.
