Sharjah24: The General Secretariat of the Sharjah Executive Council unveiled a unique ideas laboratory project last week over four days as part of its Government Services Development initiative that seeks to redesign and develop priority services for members of the public.
The ‘laboratory’ project dealt with some of the most in-demand services offered by the Sharjah City Municipality. The SEC General Secretariat has been picking up selected services to develop them carefully and subject them to ideas laboratories operated by specialised teams that explore and analyse the key elements of the customers’ journey and needs to ensure the highest standards of quality and speed in delivery of services.

A number of government agencies and private companies took part in the laboratory project as part of a constructive partnership that ensures the development of public services on rational and practical foundations and acknowledges realities and challenges on the ground. The initiative also seeks to develop future approaches based on technological progress in the emirate and achieve ease and speed in procedures quickly and with the fewest steps.

The ideas laboratory witnessed freewheeling interactions and brainstorming between senior officials, specialists, and experts from the Sharjah City Municipality, the Department of Municipal Affairs, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Planning and Survey, and the Digital Sharjah Office, as well as private companies in the consulting and contracting sector, which made the discussions comprehensive, standard specific and best practices and mechanisms for developing the service. The project involved developed an initial model for its design and application in a way that serves the Emirate’s strategy in development and sustainability.

The updated model of the service and its outcomes were presented by the joint team of stakeholders in the presence of Dr. Sulaiman bin Abdullah bin Sarhan Al Zaabi, Head of the Department of Municipal Affairs, HE Asma Rashid bin Taliah, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Executive Council, HE Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of the Sharjah City Municipality, Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Digital Office, and HE Ahmed Hamad Al Suwaidi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Sharjah Executive Council.

Since its launch, the Government Services Development project by the SEC General Secretariat has been continuing its onward journey through the implementation of various such laboratories and workshops that bring together all stakeholders from both public and private sectors in order to redesign and develop priority services in Sharjah’s government institutions to make progress and healthy change the basis of providing services based on a development culture that is based on the needs of customers or members of public.
