Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Municipality (SM) has announced the creation of a mobile workshop to service vehicles and large equipment on construction sites.
A shipping container is retrofitted into a fully functional workshop and then mounted on the back of a truck, providing mobile access to a wide range of diagnostic and repair capabilities. With the mobile workshop, municipal projects like earthworks and other duties may be completed more quickly and with less manpower.
Sharjah Municipality's Director of Technical Services, Engineer Khalifa bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, emphasised that the workshop was created with recycled materials that were given a new use rather than being thrown away.
The initiative is in line with the city's goals of maximising the use of recycling programmes and reducing the city's environmental impact, particularly in regard to the spare parts that accumulate from routine repairs on city vehicles and machinery.
The workshop is a unique innovation that improves execution speed, resource utilisation, and growth, all of which highlight the project's significance to the municipality's role in fostering a culture of innovation.
Humaid Yousef Al Banna, director of the transport department, emphasised that the workshop has air conditioning and sunshades to shield employees from the sun. It has all the required safety measures, including interior and external illumination.
