Sharjah24: The Sharjah Old Cars Club is all set for an adrenaline-fueled extravaganza marking the UAE's 52nd National Day celebrations with a memorable journey through Sharjah during the Route 71 rally. Scheduled to take place on December 2, the extraordinary event unites vintage car aficionados and enthusiasts for an exhilarating 300-kilometre drive through the emirate with three main stations along the route.
The event, organised in collaboration with strategic partners including the Sharjah Police, the National Ambulance, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, and the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority 'Shurooq’ will begin at the Sharjah Old Cars Club, where participants will receive a comprehensive participation package, including station stamp cards, stickers with participating car numbers, and detailed route maps. From there, participants will embark on a nostalgic journey, passing through key stations such as the Resistance Monument in Khor Fakkan City, Mleiha Archaeological Centre, and Al Badayer Oasis. Drivers can choose their preferred stations, providing a customised and engaging experience.
The rally will culminate with participants returning to the Sharjah Old Cars Club before 8:00 PM, where the much-anticipated closing ceremony will take place. During this ceremony, participants will be honoured with shields, gifts, and certificates of appreciation, adding a celebratory touch to this remarkable event.
Dr. Ali Ahmed Abu Al-Zawd, Chairman of the Sharjah Old Cars Club, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Route 71 is a unique initiative by the Sharjah Old Cars Club, aligning with our commitment to showcasing the authenticity and beauty of the UAE's heritage. This rally not only promotes the values of unity but also contributes significantly to supporting tourism and culture in the UAE."
He added: “The event is designed to foster national pride among participants, offering an interactive environment that blends a passion for vintage cars with the celebration of the UAE's national identity. Attendees can expect a cultural and entertaining experience, all while exploring the natural beauty and diversity of the emirate of Sharjah, including its desert, coastal, and mountainous landscapes.
