Sharjah 24: Together with Khorfakkan Hospital and the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, the Breastfeeding Friends Society (BFS) in Sharjah commemorated World Children's Day on November 20.
The effort aimed to increase awareness about the rights of children protected by the United Arab Emirates and coincided with the celebrations of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
Board members and employees of the society recently visited the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, where they presented educational materials to the orphans there. The society also donated gifts to sick children at Khorfakkan Hospital.
Breastfeeding Friends Society President Eng. Khawla Abdulaziz Al Noman described the society's celebration of World Children's Day as a realisation of Her Highness's vision and directions, according to Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.
Breastfeeding is the best way to create a healthy and happy family relationship and build a strong community, and this participation highlights the importance of organising awareness campaigns to improve the physical and mental health of children and mothers.
