The workshop covered the ethics provisions for social workers.
Kholoud Al Nuaimi, Director of the Licensing and Social Work Department at the SSSD, stressed the social worker’s impact on individuals and society as a whole, with the necessity of emulating the social workers’ ethical code.
She said the department will provide entities practicing social work with an ethical charter.
Al Nuaimi concluded her speech by emphasising the continuity of organising workshops with institutions to introduce and spread the “ethical code” notion for social professionals, especially since the social service profession still requires honing.
Dr. Alaa Al Taie, University of Sharjah, a member of the Sociological Association, reviewed the provisions of the Ethical Code—the first includes professional definitions and principles, the second deals with professional responsibilities towards the beneficiary, colleagues, the institution, society, and in the field of research, and the third includes general provisions, which stipulate that social institutions are obligated to qualify social workers to understand and apply the ethical codes following applicable laws and decisions.
A group of social specialists participated in the workshop. It led dialogue sessions on family problems, how to deal with people with disabilities, and how to deal with those exposed to harm, whether physical or psychological.
