This came during the attendance of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, accompanied by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, on Friday at Flag Island, the ceremony of raising the flag of the UAE as part of the activities of Flag Day, which is held annually on the third of November.
He pointed out that the UAE flag remained high in all forums in which the country participated throughout its journey, to reflect its high ambition and the pride of its people, and the honourable positions of the wise leadership.
The UAE flag represents a symbol that expresses the unity of the UAE, the solid foundations on which it is based, and the work, diligence, and dedication that it brings. The people of the UAE are characterised by this, which has contributed to achieving progress and prosperity.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasim stated that Flag Day is a national occasion in which the meanings of pride are demonstrated by all members of society, offering appreciation and gratitude to the leadership that spares no effort in raising the flag of the homeland, in the footsteps of the founding fathers.
He added that on Flag Day, we remember that it is the symbol of the nation, and that association with it includes national meanings, such as development, growth, prosperity, and union, and under its shade, society enjoys prosperity, security, and safety.
The Crown Prince of Sharjah, at ten o'clock in the morning, announced the start of the flag-raising ceremony, with the participation of officers and members of the Sharjah Police General Command and the military musical band of the Sharjah Police Science Academy, which played the national anthem of the UAE, as the country's flag rose high in the sky.
The event witnessed the presence of Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman bin Salem Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Ruler’s Office, Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Department of Statistics and Community Development, Sheikh Majid bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of Districts Affairs Department, Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director of Tourism and Commerce Development Authority, and a number of senior officials, heads and general directors of government entities in the Emirate of Sharjah.
