The municipality will remove the facades' panels of 40 residential towers in various areas of the city.
Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, confirmed that the project reflects the emirate's care regarding a safe environment for citizens and residents.
The project costs AED100 million, at the government's expense. Both the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority and the Department Of Town Planning and Survey are in on it.
Khalifa bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, acting director of technical services at the Sharjah Municipality, explained that the municipality successfully took the first step by removing all aluminum panels of a residential building and replacing them with alternative non-combustible materials approved by the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority, marking the first building of 40.
He pointed out that the project will undergo 4 phases. He added that the municipality is making significant efforts to wrap up the project during the second quarter of 2024.
