Kaltham Obaid, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled and Director of the Girls Branch, says that the Club is seriously seeking to implement the Emirati Genome Programme for people with disabilities and their families in order to develop a reference genome map by studying the complete genetic sequence with the latest technologies and providing a genetic database to be used in the medical and diagnostic field, and contributes to developing codes for disabilities in an attempt to reduce disabilities, and providing a distinguished therapeutic service.
She indicated that the programme received a large response from the club members and their families, and appreciated the efforts of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) in cooperating in implementing the Emirati Genome Programme, which is a national project that aims to use, analyse and benefit from the genetic data of the UAE nationals, in improving the public health of the Emiratis. The programme works to provide nationals with a special reference genome and integrating the genetic data into the healthcare management database.
