Sharjah24: The Dibba Al-Hisn Sports and Cultural Club hosted a range of traditional activities and entertainment segments to celebrate International Day of the Elderly. This event drew a substantial turnout of senior citizens.
The event was a collaborative effort with the Parents and Students Council and the Social Services Department in Dibba Al-Hisn City.
Towards the end of the celebration, tokens of appreciation in the form of commemorative gifts were presented to honour the contributions of senior citizens.
Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mutawa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dibba Al-Hisn Sports and Cultural Club, emphasised that this event reflects the objectives and principles of the national policy regarding senior citizens. It showcases the government's commitment to their development, empowerment, and promotion of active lifestyles within the senior community.
He highlighted the club's dedication to involving various family members and segments of society in celebrating seniors. This celebration is a way to acknowledge the priority and value given to seniors by the government and the society's deep-rooted customs.
Dr. Al Mutawa stressed that the continuous contributions of senior citizens and their strong sense of belonging and patriotism have played a vital role in sustaining the development and progress witnessed in the United Arab Emirates across various domains.
