Sharjah 24: As part of its efforts to promote sustainable development, preserve the environment, and expand the green area, the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah launched the activities of the fourth edition of its pioneering environmental initiative, “Distribution of Seedlings in Government and Private Institutions.”
Launched in cooperation with the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, this year’s edition of the initiative includes the distribution of different types of seedlings, trees, herbs and plants, including basil, sidr, arak, senna, and ghaf.

In this context, Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the EPAA in Sharjah, said: “The success achieved by the initiative during its past three editions represents a strong motivation for us to move forward in organising the initiative, enhancing its goals, and expanding the scope of partnership and cooperation with relevant government agencies, based on the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which contributes to achieving the emirate’s trends in the field of protecting the environment, wildlife and its biodiversity, and supporting best practices in sustainable development, by encouraging the spread of green spaces and enhancing agriculture and afforestation in various cities, regions and suburbs of the emirate, including the city of Sharjah and the central and eastern regions.

Al Suwaidi explained that the initiative succeeded over three years in distributing approximately 15,400 seedlings of various local plants to male and female employees of government and private institutions, and it is intended to involve 400 male and female employees of these entities in the emirate this year in implementing the initiative and delivering it to the targeted population of the emirate.
