At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency SEDD Chairman, welcomed the delegation, and expressed his gratitude with this visit and its role in strengthening various cooperation relations. He also praised the national efforts made and their integration at the federal and local levels and the continuous communication between the government, private and academic sectors to implement intellectual property rights laws because of their role in promoting and attracting foreign investments, supporting and developing business and innovation, and enhancing the value of business in the markets.
The two parties discussed common matters in the field of intellectual property and ways to enhance this cooperation to contribute to achieving the country’s primacy and leadership in all fields, and the necessity of achieving integration between all government agencies to improve services, achieve the aspirations of customers, and keep pace with developments, in accordance with the highest levels of efficiency, which contributes to building a sustainable business environment.
In addition, His Excellency stressed the importance of intellectual property in achieving sustainable development in the country through registering and protecting intellectual property and implementing local, regional and international decisions and the recommendations and decisions issued by international organizations regarding the protection of registered marks, trade names, patents, copyrights, protection of works, etc. This is related to property rights, within the framework of continuous work and constructive effort in an advanced manner that is in line with the developments and renaissance witnessed by Sharjah in particular and UAE in general. He pointed out that SEDD is working to support the efforts of the Ministry of Economy, by supporting the decisions and recommendations related to intellectual property protection. Likely, His Excellency explained that SEDD made great strides in developing standards for the efficiency of its services, and bringing them to the highest levels, with the aim of achieving its mission and vision of achieving sustainable economic development and achieving quality in practices. Also, He stressed that the Department constantly seeks to ensure the provision of the best services to its customers, in accordance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Additionally, the Department pays great attention to ensure the safety of all economic practices in the emirate’s markets, ensuring that there are no negative practices that affect the rights of trademark owners or consumers alike.
By the end of the meeting, the two parties stressed the importance of strengthening future cooperation in line with the government service standards that the federal and local governments aspire to, and praised the importance of holding such meetings in the future because of their role in accelerating development processes and enhancing competitiveness and sustainable growth.
