SEDD organises “Food Security in Sharjah” workshop

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) organised “Food Security in Sharjah” workshop at the main headquarter to enhance its role in supporting national sectors and the system of enabling sustainable food production, and providing an incubating and stimulating investment environment by facilitating the procedures for conducting business within the agricultural production sector as it is one of the drivers of a sustainable economy towards diversification and competitiveness.
The workshop aims to present the opinions and results of scientific studies and research on the challenges facing this sector at the local level and come up with comprehensive strategies to achieve them in light of contemporary and future conditions. The workshop was attended by number of government entities and employees in the food and agricultural sector in the emirate.

Sultan bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, emphasised SEDD’s strategy to implement the plan which leads to economic development in Sharjah by improving the services provided to customers and strategic partners and by adopting best practices in a way that achieves a return that is added to the domestic product of the economy in the country. 

He pointed out that the Department pays great attention to the cooperation with local entities in Sharjah to discuss work progress in a number of projects and initiatives. This is done to achieve a diversified competitive and innovative knowledge-based methods in accordance with SEDD’s strategic plan calling for contributing to planning and leading comprehensive economic development in the emirate, and exchanging expertise and experiences between government agencies and the private sector with regard to finding innovative solutions to provide new sources of food based on modern technology to ensure that the needs of current and future generations are met.
