Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Media City "Shams" successfully concluded its first edition of the "Shams Gaming" E-sports Championship. The event took place at Shams' headquarters in the emirate of Sharjah, with approximately 100 professional players participating.
Omar Al-Hammadi won the first place in the "FIFA 2023" game, while the second place was taken by the player Mohammed Al-Basha, and Jumah Mohamed earned the third place.
Shams distributed cash prizes to the top winners and also provided other in-kind vouchers to several participants in the tournament, which was marked by enthusiastic and competitive atmosphere.
His Excellency Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, the Managing Director of Sharjah Media City (Shams) stated, "The first edition of the ‘’Shams Gaming’’ Championship received a significant social response in attracting talented individuals, given the immense popularity of E-sports, which contributes to the emergence of a generation of creators." He also praised the advanced level of the tournament and the large number of participants who competed with sportsmanship spirit to claim top positions. He congratulated the winners and wished the best of luck to the rest of the participants.
He emphasized that the tournaments organised by Sharjah Media City “Shams’’, through its weekly platform shamsgaming.com, are part of the efforts to enhance the UAE's position on the international stage in the gaming and E-sports sector, which is witnessing rapid growth, solidifying Sharjah's position as a leading destination for hosting advanced gaming tournaments.
The participants and attendees expressed their admiration for the level of organisation and the excellent competitive levels showcased during the sports championship, considering the "Shams Gaming" tournament as a sports project aimed at discovering more sporting talents.
The event witnessed enthusiastic competition among participants in several exciting games, including "FIFA 23", "Modern Warfare 2’’, "Air Hockey," "Foosball," and other electronic sports, lasting from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Competitors from various age groups, both citizens and residents, and both males and females, took part in the event.
