SRTA begins AED31 million maintenance of Mleiha Road

Sharjah24: Engineer Khalifa Hussein Al Ali, a civil engineer in the Roads Maintenance Department at the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), stated that the authority has started maintenance work on Mleiha Road, which extends from the Al Badi Bridge to the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa Street, with a distance of 20 km, costing AED31 million, and maintenance will be completed. The project will undergo a new technology that relies on recycling the removed asphalt, which is a time saving.

Al Ali confirmed in exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24" that the 4 stages project, in which the first phase is expected to be done the first week of August, is expected to be completed by the second week of November. Each stage will cover a distance of 5 kilometers.

He added that Meliha Road is vital for heavily loaded large vehicles, damaging the asphalt over time. In addition, other factors, such as rain, affect the durability of the road making it less safe for vehicles.
